Streetscape Grant

The City of Elkton has received $100,000 in Transportation Enhancement funding to replace sidewalks around Public Square.  The preliminary project plan is to remove old sidewalks around the entire portion of the Square including Weather's Drug Store and the portion around the Old Jefferson Davis Hotel building.  New sidewalks will be constructed, old light poles will be removed and historic lighting similar to the new lights around the Old Courthouse will be installed.  Also, historic lighting will be installed in portions of the Square that already have new sidewalks. 

Also, in 2007, the City was awarded an additional $300,000 in TE funding to replace more sidewalks around Public Square!  These two projects will be combined and hopefully will be enough funding to replace all sidewalks around Public Square and down one block in each direction, install historic lighting and bury some utility lines.  This project is in the design phase and will be bid out in Spring 2008.
