Fire
Department
The Elkton Fire Department is under the direction of Chief Larry Threlkel and Assistant Chief Derrell Waggoner. The Department also includes a force of sixteen volunteers, which serves Elkton and also serves Todd County in conjunction with other volunteer fire departments from Guthrie, Trenton, Allegre and Sharon Grove. The City has a four bay fire station on property adjacent to the City-County Park Property on South Main Street. One bay was recently added and completed in early 2000. In August 2002, the City of Elkton and the Volunteer Fire Department honored two of its volunteers, Mac Harper and Jim Weathers, for 30 years of service. In
February 2003, the City purchased a new 2003 Kenworth Pumper truck. The
City received a low interest loan from the State Fire Commission's office in the
amount of $75,000 to help purchase the truck. The City will use it's
portion of the State Fire Aid money to pay the loan back over twelve years.
